When you accept a gift from something older than the road you're travelling, roll +need.

On a 10+, the gift is real and the price is one you could have agreed to in daylight.

On a 7-9, the gift is real. The price is one you would never have agreed to, had you understood what you were agreeing to. The GM will tell you what you promised when it becomes relevant, which is to say, when it is too late to be useful information.

On a miss, the gift is real. There is no price. This is the worst possible outcome.
