On A Miss

25

When you walk a street you have walked before in grief, roll +the city's patience.

On a 10+, the city has kept something for you. A corner. An hour of light. A face in a window that is not looking at you, which is its own kind of gift. Take it. It will matter later in a way you cannot plan for.

On a 7-9, the city has kept something for you but it is filed incorrectly, shelved under the wrong loss. You receive it anyway. The GM will tell you whose grief it belonged to. You will carry it alongside your own. There is room.

On a miss, the street is just a street. You understand, for a moment, what it would mean to be free of all this. The moment passes. Mark it anyway.
